Why Battery-Room Temperature Affects Service Life

Sustained heat accelerates battery aging. Temperature, ventilation and distance from heat sources should be reviewed with the battery specification.

Higher temperature accelerates aging

Heat speeds internal chemical reactions and may shorten expected service life. A hot equipment room can cause batteries of the same model to age much faster than those in a controlled environment.

Include environment photos in your inquiry

Photograph ventilation openings, nearby equipment, sunlight exposure and spacing around the rack. Temperature records are especially useful when available.

Quick checklist

1Record room temperature
2Photograph ventilation
3Identify nearby heat sources
4Check spacing around the rack
